Quick Bite: Ingredients
In an ideal world, everyone makes fresh food every day, from great, fresh ingredients. We all eat whole foods grown locally and plenty of vegetables. HA! Ideal is very often NOT reality. So what is someone to do when they want to be healthy?
READ YOUR LABELS!!! Here’s the process:
- Read the ingredients
- Ask yourself this question: “Could I make this at home if I had the time/skills?”
- If the answer is yes, then you can buy it.
- If the answer is no, put it back on the shelf.
If the item would require a chemistry set or warehouse full of artificial ingredients, don’t bother. There are plenty of prepared foods/frozen foods/convenience foods made WITHOUT funky preservatives.
You don’t have to make everything from scratch, but you should only buy stuff that you COULD make if you really wanted to.
